many Vietnamese people I’ve met along the way hold multiple jobs to make ends meet.

On another night, I went hunting for dinner, but instead of going into the Westernized restaurants, I walked until I saw many Vietnamese people eating and sat down.  Vietnamese food is the perfect blend between sweet and spicy.  Their soup broths are always rich, the fruits always fresh, and fresh ingredients like mint are always used.  I ordered my waiter’s favorite dish, which turned out to be the perfect choice.  It was a pork chop braised in a mint spice over rice with a tomato salad.  Most entrees come with an extra side of sauce that is a blend between vinegar and sugar, producing a sweet but tart taste that is very addictive.  Although the menu price said 40,000 Dong, my waiter only charged me 20,o00 Dong after hearing my story.  This incident makes me wonder if all menus are double the price of the actual item, but only Vietnamese people would know this and not foreigners.

During my time in Hue, when I was not exploring the town on my own, I went to visit the Imperial Citadel, old emperors’ tombs, the Vietnamese Forbidden City, a village that made incenses, cruised down the Perfume River in a dragon boat.
