Insults and Attacks Indigenous People in Ecuador, Counter-Sues
As a proud American, I was ashamed of Chevron’s dubious actions in Ecuador. Instead of trying to save face after “dumping of billions of gallons of toxic waste into Ecuador’s Amazon”, Chevron denies their actions have harmed anyone, including the environment. This boldface statement has no merit, even if backed by a $5 million paycheck made out to Chevron’s stooge scientist.
“A jury in Alabama last year rejected this ‘scientific expert’s’ claim and a $19 million judgement was issued to Chevron.” This price is not a true calculation of the effect of the carcinogenic cosmopolitan left in Ecuador, but it is a starting point. Let’s hope that true facts and the tribal voices from the Amazon will be heard in our 21st century courts.
It’s hard to imagine the sun leathered tribal leaders donning a suit, but there needs to a melting of social barriers for justice to prevail in this case.
