As we all make the pilgrimage home to enjoy a Thanksgiving feast with our loved ones, it is important to give “Thanks” for the opportunities afforded to us by our nation’s freedoms. Despite the economic recession, the U.S. is still the only country I will call home. I’m proud to be an American. As a travel lover, I will spend my vacation time globetrotting around the world, but the end of my days will always remain in the U.S. For this, I am eternally grateful to my parents who’ve adopted my sisters and me. For this, I thank God for blessing me with good fortune.
I will send my prayers out to the families who find themselves between a rock and hard place this holiday season. I pray that you will find a job. I pray that there will be food on your dining room table today and everyday. I pray that you don’t give up hope, regardless of your situation. Perseverance has always been the key characteristic to being American.
