influencing female voters?

Have you ever seen no news become news?  This is all that is left on CNN’s website:

Post removed: Study looks at voting and hormones

A post previously published in this space regarding a study about how hormones may influence voting choices has been removed.

After further review it was determined that some elements of the story did not meet the editorial standards of CNN.

We thank you for your comments and feedback.

This story had bad news judgement.  Do you think antagonizing  half the viewership – especially when we are ‘hormonal’ – is a smart idea?

Last Presidential Debate

Overall, I’d give the third debate to the Obama camp.  His answers were poignant (while sometimes pugnacious), which left Romney’s answers flat and 2-D.  Both candidates did a much better job in constraining themselves and respecting the moderator and each other in the last debate compared to the town hall debate.  My favorite moment of the night goes to Obama – “We also have fewer horses and bayonets…”

Syrian army declares conditional Eid ceasefire

Syria’s army called for a ceasefire on Thursday to mark the Muslim holiday of Eid al Adhabut.  Supporters of  President Bashar al-Assad did not agree to the truce but did say they might stop fighting if the army stopped.

Doesn’t this sound like a disagreement between children? Do we ever grow up?

Eid al Adhabut is a four-day Muslim holiday to commemorate Abraham’s willingness to sacrifice his first-born son Ishmael.  His obedience to God was rewarded by God providing him a ram to sacrifice instead. Regardless the split between the Sunni and Shi’ite Muslims, I hope they understand that their shared beliefs should be a unifying agent in the turbulent Middle East.  Perhaps this mild truce can be the first step towards peace for Syria.

Who are China’s potential new leaders?

This November isn’t just a big month for the U.S.  China’s 10-year term system is due for a change of power.  China’s Communist Party will reveal the new top nine leadership positions for the country on November 8.  China has quickly become a global leader despite their human rights violations.  Who they elect into office will effect the U.S. just as much as the new president of the U.S. will have on China.
