In My Belly is a hidden gem in Decatur, Georgia where the fine dining southern cuisine is made fresh, in-house and delicious, not to mention animal/plant friendly. Rather consumers believe it or not, they do control the market (at least to a small extent) through purchasing power. If you choose to know that your eggs came from cage-free organically fed chickens, then you let your money dictate your wants to the farmers.
St. Patrick’s Day is celebrated best with food, like most holidays. I heard of Sun In My Belly from a fellow Atlanta blogger – Asian Cajun. The drive to get brunch was beautiful with the first few buds of spring blooming in the sun.
And the food at the hole-in-the-wall cafe was just as amazing! Here is what we ordered: the Hangover, biscuit sandwich with sausage, eggs and avocado, potatoes with cheese and we added mac’n cheese as an extra side. Brunch always falls in the awkward time of day when my body craves both breakfast and lunch. The richness of the meal kept me satisfied for hours (which for my family and friends who know me well will know that this is quite a feat)!
We also ordered shrimp and grits, a classic Southern dish that can be served any time of day. Having eaten many grits in my Southern childhood, I must say these grits were some of the best I’ve ever tasted!
I’m excited to join Foodie Friday – being a big Foodie – this will be my first entry on Foodie Friday!
