you’ve read my blog for awhile, you’ll know that I’m not always comfortable mixing brown and black. It just doesn’t come naturally to me. However, I’ve been
pinning a lot of images lately with brown and black, which helped inspire this outfit.

These are all things I had in my closet already, and I’ve worn before but styled differently. You’ll be seeing a lot more of me remixing this year, as I try to save more.

What I like about this look is that it not only pushes me to mix brown and black together, but it also unconventionally pairs a loose top and bottom together. Usually, I dress with the principle that if my top is loose, I should wear something more fitted to help give me shape. This look breaks this rule, but it still works because the skirt is short enough to shows enough of my legs to keep it proportional.

I took these photos about 10 minutes before it started snowing. This is me bundled up, queuing for brunch at The Smith. Check back on Friday for my review of The Smith, in NYC.
