Stay warm by layering! I’m wearing a Lou & Grey sweater, which I love because their fit is loose. I’ve paired with high-waisted American Eagle jeans and over-the-knee boots (last seen here) to keep the proportions balanced. I wear these two pieces all the time. They are a staple of my winter/fall closet. These boots are so comfortable and the quilted detailing adds the right amount of interest. They are a dupe of the more expensive Stuart Weitzman (linked below).
If you’re shopping for scarves this season – try a simple two-toned scarf like this one from H&M. It’s very versatile and I like the simplicity. I wear it all the time! Also try something surprising like a faux fur hat to cap off your winter looks. This one is made from baby alpaca fur. I bought it at an animal rescue shelter in Peru. It’s such a fun memento from my trip and also helps make a statement with my winter style.
This fit and flare poppy dress from Modcloth is currently on sale! I’m wearing the XXS and it fits really well – although a bit longer on me than it appears on model. It looks more floor-length instead of midi-length. However, it still looks nice and works well as long as I wear heels or wedges.
I love floral prints and any dress with pockets! What I love most about Modcloth is that their vintage take on modern style makes every piece very unique. Here’s to 2019 and standing out in the crowd!
Layering is so important in the fall and winter, and my go to layering piece is a cape/poncho. I love this cape because it has zippers so you can open it for easier arm movements. It’s an old one from Gap. So what’s the difference between a cape and a poncho you ask? The shape. A cape is a circle and a poncho is a square.
Tip – always look for pointed-toe flats like the ones I’m wearing from Anthropologie as it helps to elongate your foot and make you look tall. I also try and keep to monochromatic colors to look slender despite the bulky layers.
I love wearing tweed in the winter, and my latest addition to my closet is this Modcloth, high-waisted tweed skirt. I’m such a fan of Modcloth, and its retro, vintage vibes. This skirt is still in stock and also available in navy!
I went for the red one to be more festive for the holiday season. This is an old Zara blouse, but I’ve linked to several great options below.
Another tip for my petite ladies – when wearing midi-length skirts in the winter, try pairing with tall boots. This will prevent your legs looking like it’s cut off, and it’s also very warm!
If you are petite like me, mini skirts are your friends. What I like about them is that they show enough of my short legs to make me appear tall. High-waisted mini skirts are even better as they give the allusion that my legs start higher on my body.
I layer my mini skirts with sweaters, tights, and boots to stay warm.
I know it’s basic, but you need a blanket scarf. I love this one because the coloring is very versatile and goes with all my fall/winter wardrobe. I usually always travel with at least one blanket scarf because it’s so warm and can be used as a scarf, shawl, poncho and blanket.
Do you have a person in your life that is impossible to shop for? Does he or she have everything already? What do you get a person like this?
Check out Presenteur, which collates unique things that you would not find in a store. I recently went to their pop-up boutique at Saks Fifth Avenue in Tysons Galleria and their selection of items is truly perfect for easy gift ideas.
I talk a lot about outerwear, but today, I’m talking about the essentials of any closet – your underwear and bra.
Today, I’m baring it all to share with you unmentionables that should be mentioned – thanks to True & Co.
They are a San Francisco based, female-run and operated company dedicated to making better bras based on feedback from their community. Before purchasing, you take a “fit quiz” to help you select the perfect pieces for your body.
I’m wearing the True Body Triangle Racerback and matching True Everyday Cotton Thong. I love that it is seamless and is as comfortable as a sports bra but as chic as my Victoria Secret bras. These have just enough padding so you can wear them underneath t-shirts or fancy blouses without showing how “nippy” it might be outside.
I will also definitely be packing these for my holiday travels this season. They are super comfortable, while still providing enough support for long car rides, train rides or flights – however you are getting home for the holidays this year.
I’m also rooting for Idris Elba to be the next James Bond – who else is with me?
Everyone needs a good camel coat because it goes with everything and can be worn in spring or fall transition. For this Thanksgiving, I’ve wearing camel and black, one of my favorite color combos for fall.
While I love blogging, one thing I try and do is shop at thrift stores and always donate my clothes because I recognise how the fashion industry can be wasteful. I got this sweater at Goodwill in Portland, Oregon, in the spring and it’s been such a cozy knit to pair with my classic pieces like this ASOS camel coat (last seen here). It’s a few seasons old, but I still constantly wear it. If you don’t have a camel coat I highly recommend you invest in one – you will be surprised at how versatile it is in your closet.
These wide-legged pants are from H&M (only a few sizes left in stock) and these wedge booties are from Loft (a few season old, but linked to other great options below).
For Thanksgiving, I often wear dresses or ponchos so I don’t have anything around my stomach, but if you wear pants this year, go for loose-fitting pants. Look for wide-legged or boyfriend fit as they tend to give you more space for that turkey!
I’ll also be uploading all the Black Friday sales on my “Shop the Sales” page so you don’t have to search the Internet for deals. I’ve already linked up to all the early Black Friday deals so you can start shopping now and bet the rush! You can also try these websites that help you find the lowest price possible:
Looking for style inspiration this fall/winter? Go no further than animal prints – it’s the fall fashion trend this year. I love this Vince leopard blouse I picked up, and I’ve been wearing it on repeat rather at the office or shopping around town. I’ve paired with these BLANK NYC vegan leather pants (they are still in stock and available for less than $100)and knee high Michael Kors boots.
These faux leather pants have been on repeat this fall, but I wore them last on the blog here for an all black look.
The holiday parties are starting up, so check out GlamSquad, which is offering $10 off when you first sign-up. It’s a phone app that connects you with a stylist who will come to your house and help you get ready for your events – rather its hair, make-up or even nails! They are in Washington, DC, San Francisco, New York, Southern California, Southern Florida, Boston, and Long Island. For Black Friday, they are offering special packages 20% off their usual price.
Don’t you think you also deserve nice things? Don’t forget to treat yourself during the Black Friday Sales and Cyber Monday Deals this week!
Here are a few items I’m looking for myself:
Purse for going out

Winter White Dress
Animal Print Skirt
I love Shopbop because they offer unique styles from designers all around the world on one platform. I still definitely shop at H&M, Forever21 and ASOS, but I also invest in a few good pieces that help make my wardrobe stand out from others. For those unique pieces – I shop at Shopbop.
